Malevil CUP: About the Organization of the Legendary MTB Marathon
Jaroslav Kulhavý, Petr Vakoč or Kristián Hynek. These are the names you could have met at the start of the legendary Czech MTB marathon. Its route will take the competitors through the beauty of the Lusatian and Zittau Mountains or the German spa town of Oybin. We met Radek Patrák, the organizer of all twenty-four editions of the race, directly at the Malevil ranch to talk about how he managed to turn a local event into a traditional race event of international renown, which has even repeatedly gained the status of the UCI European Marathon Championship.
To make the atmosphere of the interview as authentic as possible, we recorded it outdoors, so you can also enjoy local birds' singing. You'll also hear what the marathon's main strength is, what hundreds of competitors come to the start for, or even how the composition of the field has changed over the years.
Moreover, we talked about women's cycling and about some hilarious moments from the event's organization. Learn more with us about the Malevil CUP organization in the episode of the Life in the Saddle podcast.
