Tomáš Kindl: on the introduction and preservation of the 1.5 metre rule

Tomáš Kindl is an avid cyclist, lawyer and initiator of the law on 1.5 m distance from cyclists, which has been put into practice this year. Its purpose is to define exactly what the previously vague term "safe distance from a cyclist" means and thus improve the safety of all road users. In recent months, there have been moves to abolish this law, which has us worried.

The traffic police were underwhelmed about the modification from the beginning, but negative reactions were heard across society. Tomáš, together with other initiators, wrote an open letter that helped to preserve the law. For now. You can show your support for the law by signing the petition here. Find out why there is so much hype around the law and how Tomas Kindl perceives the situation of cyclists in the Czech Republic in the next episode of the podcast.
