Martin Velits: On Brotherhood in Cycling and Business
Martin Velits is a former professional cyclist from Slovakia, who has been a part of teams such as Milram, HTC–Highroad, and Omega-Pharma Quick-Step. He retired from professional sports six years ago to fully dedicate himself, alongside his brother Peter, a world champion in team time trial, to building the cycling apparel brand Isadore.
We met with Martin at the Isadore Hub, a community center in Bratislava, to discuss not only cycling but also entrepreneurship. We learned, for example, how a natural disaster led them to shift their focus towards road cycling with his twin brother.
Did he ever feel the urge to return to the professional peloton? What's the difference between competing and running a business with his brother? And how did they come to the decision to establish their own brand, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary? You can hear all this and much more in the podcast episode "Life in the Saddle." The episode is in Czech/Slovak.
